POSITION STATEMENT

It has been an honor to serve as your Mayor since 2011. During these ten years as Mayor, I have always worked to protect and maintain our Vision Statement.  As a Seat 5 Council Member for the next two years, I will continue to work to maintain the safe and secure environment we all enjoy. 

My most important priority is safety.  

  • Continue the ambulance transport agreement with Volusia County 
  • Complete studies to determine future requirements for proper staffing and equipment for Police & Fire Dept.  
  • Continue accreditation of the Police Department 
  • Obtain accreditation for the Fire Department 
  • Increase enforcement of our short-term rental ordinance 
  • Protect our rental ordinance from State mandated changes 

Ponce Inlet and Edgewater were the first two cities to secure ambulance transport agreements with the County. Continuing this agreement as the best option available was verified by the Fire Union President during our January Council meeting.    

The follow priorities will maintain or improve the paradise we call home.  

  • Keep our property tax millage rate in the lowest quarter of Volusia County taxing districts 
  • Demonstrate our fiscal responsibility with perfect budget audits as we have for the previous ten years 
  • Keep employee salaries competitive to minimize staff turn-over 
  • Keep all park facilities clean and accessible 
  • Widen the four-mile Peninsula Avenue sidewalk using grant funds, not your tax dollars 
  • Provide fact based information to our residents 
  • Be assessable to all residents via phone or email 
  • Approve sensible improvements and additions to commercially zoned property 
  • Initiate quarterly Town Hall meetings for the full Council 
  • Explore grant opportunities to fund preparations for sea level rise 
  • Review and update our Town Charter 

To assist me in fulfilling all of these important priorities, I am endorsing Lois Paritsky for Mayor (Seat 1) and Elizabeth Caswell for Council (Seat 3).
