On Wednesday, October 20th the Garden Club of Ponce Inlet was finally able to welcome back its members for their first meeting in over a year and a half.  The camaraderie of our members was on clear display, with all expressing how much they missed being able to meet in person and were delighted to once again be able to do so.  For the 1st time, our members were introduced to their new board. While the meeting was mostly a business meeting with the presentation of our annual budget and selection of committees to carry out our goals for the year, members were able to share their ideas for the upcoming year.  Special thanks goes to Liz Finch and Kathy Cannon for providing the beautiful table decorations for this first meeting.  Our next membership meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 27Mr. Howard Jeffries, Volusia County Master Gardener, will be our 1st guest speaker for the year.  Mr. Jeffries presentation will demonstrate the techniques for Planting, Potting and Pruning of Roses.  In our previous newsletter we highlighted all our speakers for our Garden Club year, but we do have one special addition to our calendar for the month of December — Pepper’s Boutique of New Smyrna Beach will once again be bringing their Fashion Show to our Club.  We previously had Pepper’s Boutique at our Holiday meeting 2 years ago and members took pleasure in having our own members modeling the boutique’s unique fashion selections. We hope all members will be able to join us for this special meeting.

In the meantime, our new Ponce Primpers Louise Buscemi and Beth McKinney have already been busy beautifying the grounds around our Town Hall and the entrances to our town.  We thank them very much for stepping right into their new rolls.   And as always our Crafters, led by Portia Mallack and Linde Citro, are busy as usual, meeting on every Monday morning from 10AM- Noon working on their beautiful crafts.  If you would like to join their group, please let us know.

But our best news is that after a year absence we were once again able to hold our Annual Arts, Crafts and Plant Show.  Special acknowledgements go to our Arts, Crafts and Show Co-chairs, Liz Finch and Pat Morris and our committee chairs, Pat Sperone (Plant Sales), DeeDee Bunnell (Potter’s Café), Leslie Ward (Bake Sale), and Jane Magrady (Publicity). We were delighted to have 49 vendors in attendance, both inside and outside, featuring all of their beautiful handmade arts and crafts.   Highlights included metal art, beautiful handmade jewelry, exquisite cutting/charcuterie boards, wreaths, quilts, handwoven door mats, pottery, glass bowls and paintings, resin products, embroidered towels, quilts, pillows, handbags and specialty cards.  We also sold plants seeded, grown and potted by our own Garden Club members.  But like many things, a picture is worth a thousand words, so we are pleased to share some photos with you from this event.

We also had wonderful raffle items which included a Lottery Ticket Wheel, Designer Handbag and accessories, Relaxation Basket, Knitter’s Basket and a Liquor Basket.  Thanks to our members who generously donated items and assembled these beautiful baskets and special congratulations to all of our raffle winners!

Our Garden Club works hard all year long to give back to our community and with the support of all of our members we can continue to do so.
